About GCSE:

If you are a GCSE candidate, I am sure you are already familiar with the term. To the ones who are yet to be clear about what GCSE is, know that GCSE stands for General Certificate of Secondary Education. The old O (Ordinary) Levels and CSEs (Certificate of Secondary Education) were replaced by the GCSE.

The GCSE qualification mainly involves studying the theory of a subject along with some investigative work, while some subjects also involve practical work. Further, these subjects are usually studied full-time at school or college and take five terms to complete.

The three core subjects English, Maths and Science are compulsory in the GCSE along with citizenship and PE (although there are no exams in the latter two). All other subjects in GCSEs are optional.

AQA:

AQA stands for Assessment and Qualifications Alliance. This board is considered to be one of the main examination boards in England. It is a registered charity and is independent of the government.

AQA accounts for taking and marking more than half of the GCSE and A-level qualifications in the UK each year. In total it offers qualifications in around 60 subjects which have a variety of specifications and qualification levels.

AQA GCSE Exam Timetable 2023:

All GCSE exams, irrespective of all exam boards, will take place during May and June 2023. The first exam is expected to start on 15th May 2023 and the final GCSE exam will take place on Wednesday 21st June.

Exam Rules and Guidelines:

Just like any other exam, there are some rules and guidelines for GCSE examinees that they should follow. Neglecting any of the rules can be the reason for disqualification, so students should strictly follow the rules.

Some general rules are-

  • Be present at the exam venue at least 10 minutes before the exam starts.
  • You are only allowed to bring the authorised materials needed to use during the exam. Anything considered as ‘unauthorised material’ by the Exam Boards must not be in your possession in either a written exam or a speaking test.
  • You are not allowed to use your phone or any other electronic equipment during the exam.
  • You are expected to wear the full uniform while sitting for the exam.
  • You should bring your own calculator to the examination.
