Today, we’re going to learn how to say ‘more’ in sign language. Imagine a scenario: you’re watching your sweetheart dance. But she’s deaf or hard of hearing. Once she’s finished showing her routines to you, you want to watch her move graciously just a bit more. How would you do that? Well, learning sign language for her will make her feel so much more appreciated.

This sign is among one of the easiest. So, let’s start.

Before we start, though, a little disclaimer: there are many sign languages like Baby Sign Language, American Sign Language ASL, British Sign Language BSL etc.

However, we’ll only deal with BSL today.

If it goes too quickly for you, don’t worry about it. Below, we’ll go through each step in more depth.

Now follow these steps.

A woman standing with a normal posture

1. Start with a normal posture.

2. Spread both your palms outwards and lift them up towards your chest.

3. Cross them in front of your chest like the image above. The back of your hands will be facing the one you’re communicating with.

4. Double tap the back of the hand closer to you with your other hand.

5. Say the word ‘more’ out loud.

6. Communication without a smile is devoid of emotions, and thus it looks robotic. Keep a beautiful smile on your face.

Conclusion

So, that’s how we say ‘more’ in sign language. Make sure the person you are speaking with can see you clearly. If the signer’s motions are not readily visible, anyone could easily misinterpret the message. Maintain a regular practice routine if you want to memorise the sign; otherwise, you run the danger of forgetting it over time.
