British Sign Language is a visual means of communication using gestures, facial expression, and body language. It is used by the people who are deaf or have a hearing loss.

In BSL 1 you can learn to communicate with deaf people on a range of topics that requires simple everyday language and BSL 2 basically will enable you to develop functional BSL communication on a deeper level.

It depends on the person what language he’s willing to learn and which country he’s residing in right now. If he’s living in the USA then he should learn ASL and if he’s living in the UK, then he needs to learn BSL.

BSL Level 2 course will enable you to develop functional BSL communication in more depth than BSL Level 1, requiring a broader grasp of grammar to cope with some non-routine language exchanges.

The best way to learn BSL is to take a course taught by a qualified BSL tutor fluent in that language.

Each student has their own learning pace. On average, it takes 3-4 years to become fluent based upon learning 3 hours a week.

It’s not that hard to learn. Learning BSL is like learning another language.Once you’ll get started with it,you’ll want to keep going.

Fees and salaries for BSL interpreters vary widely depending on experience, employer and location. As a guide, full-time interpreters can get between £20,000 and £35,000 a year.

Easiest and quickest way to learn BSL is to take online courses where you can comfortably and at your own time and pace. Our Lead Academy is also offering a Signature BSL Level 1 live course where you can learn at your own pace and get the SIgnature accredited course.

SignSchool is a free online sign language class that steps you through the basics starting with how to spell your name and then moves you through challenging lessons.
