Assignment
Students must complete a number of brief assignments for each section of the award. These assessments are designed to assess you in accordance with the following guidelines:
- Submit short assignments for each module
- Assignments should include theory, relevant to real-world workplaces and relate to actual teaching situations.
- These assignments will aid in your exploration and application of the entire teaching and learning cycle.
Teaching Assessment
You will also be required to submit a teaching assessment that is designed to assess you in accordance with the following guidelines:
- There must be at least three observations, totalling a minimum of three hours, excluding the observation practice completed as part of Level 3 Education and Training (if taken). Each observation must last at least thirty minutes.
- A teacher with the appropriate credentials should complete this witness testimony. To complete these observations, we may also, in exceptional cases, arrange a video link with your tutor.
- For this training, there is no prerequisite in terms of prior experience. To get your completion certificate, however, you must complete 30 hours of classroom teaching experience and provide a teaching record and documentation proving youโve taught in a classroom.
- You have to make a record of all the observations in the provided teaching log.
- You will need to find an expert witness with a level 5 diploma in education and training to observe your practical teaching demonstration. If you prefer, we can help you by providing an expert witness for an additional fee of ยฃ175 + VAT for 3 hours.

For the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training qualification, you must be seen teaching in an actual classroom; simulation is not allowed, and your observations must be conducted in an actual classroom.
This witness testimony must be provided by an expert with a Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training. For an additional charge of ยฃ175 + VAT for 4 hours, if you'd prefer, we can also assist you by providing an expert witness.

For the supervised study, 140 hours are allotted. However, the total amount of time we anticipate you to spend on this award, including all the research and writing tasks is 360 hours. It is not necessary to have finished the level 3 award in education and training before enrolling in this course.
No, a Level 3 course wonโt get you Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status. You need to finish the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, which is now called the Diploma in Teaching (DiT). This name change happened in September 2024, but the course content and requirements are mostly the same. After you complete the DiT, you can apply for QTLS by proving your teaching skills and knowledge through a process called professional formation with the Society for Education & Training (SET).
You have a year to access this course, so you can complete it at your own pace and convenience.
There is no prerequisite in terms of prior knowledge for this training. However, you must complete 30 hours of classroom teaching experience throughout the course to receive your completion certificate.

For QTLS, you need to teach or train groups of five or more students who are 14 years old or older for at least 230 hours over 6 months in a relevant job within the Further Education and Skills sector.
