Today, we will learn how to say “woman” in sign language. It is one of the most common words you will discover when learning sign language.

Similar to spoken languages, sign languages develop naturally from connections between groups of people. Geography and culture also significantly impact the development of sign languages. People who sign different languages cannot understand one another since the majority of sign languages don’t share their vocabulary with each other.

1. Start with a normal posture.

2. Now raise the index finger of your right hand and move it along your cheek.

3. Now, slowly bring your hand to your mouth.

4. Say the word ‘woman’ as you’re signing it.

That’s the first version of the word. So, let’s now see the second version.

2. Raise your right hand.

3. Now rub your chest with your right hand, as shown in the picture above.

4. Say the word as you’re signing it.


So there you have it. In sign language, that is how you say, woman. As you learn sign language, keep in mind that practice makes perfect. You should practise throughout the week in order to remember most of the signs you are taught. When using sign language, be sure the person you are communicating with can clearly see you.
