In cases, where a sign is not available or if the other person is unfamiliar with the sign, we also use fingerspelling to spell words. Different gestures or movements are used for each alphabet. The alphabet is essential in sign language.
Some sign language, like American Sign Language, uses one-handed spelling, while British Sign Language use two-handed gestures to spell words.

1. Start with a normal posture.
2. Raise both of your hands.
3. Place the index finger of your right hand on the little finger of your left hand, as shown in the picture above.
4. Say the letter “U” while you are signing.
